After more than 30 years of servitude, due to his lack of magical powers, Dariel got fired from the Demon King's Army, and now has to find new purpose for his life.
Hungry and lost in a forest, he finds a young woman who's being chased by a beast and, having no other option, uses human weaponry to fight.
As reward for his valiant courage, the young woman drags Dariel to her village to offer him a meal.
Hiding his true identity, Dariel comes up with the story that he was working in a lodging company before being fired. Moved by his story, Marika insists in him staying in her family inn.
To stay at their village, Dariel now needs to work, and ends up assigned to a fighter's guild. As only humans can sign the guild's contract, Dariel finds out he's not a demon, but a human instead.
