Here is something a little different!

However you eat, these eating utensils are for you! They can be used as either chopsticks or a fork and spoon. Roughly half of the world's current population uses chopsticks, somewhat less than half uses western style silverware, and there are a few societies where people eat with their hands. Chopsticks originated from people using sticks to take their food out of the cooking fire. When resources became scarce, people would cut food into smaller pieces to save fuel because the smaller portions cooked faster. This eliminated the need for knives, and chopsticks became the utensil of choice.

As far as silverware goes, the fork is the most recent addition to the collection. The knife’s history dates back to sharpened rocks in the Stone Age, when it was used for hunting as well as for eating. Liquids were drunk by hunters and gatherers who used hollow-shaped natural products, such as shells. The first man-made spoons were made from wood, bone or horn. Knife and spoon were considered personal property and were carried by each diner in a special pouch that was attached to the belt. To eat solid food, people used their fingers or the tip of the knife.

And now for Cirno's Perfect Trivia Class!
